crystal clear mountain water
Ready, set, jump in! When was the last time you jumped into a mountain lake? Crystal-clear water provides refreshment. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can dive in. The beautiful mountain lake on Elsigenalp is easily accessible from the mountain station, even with a pram. A pearl of clear turquoise that will delight the whole family. Or at least refreshing.
At 1809 m (5935 ft.) above sea level, the lake invites you to take a cooling dip. Just 15 minutes on foot from the Elsigenalp summit station, summer visitors can refresh themselves in the clear water.
THE SOURCE OF THE SIMME
Siebe Brünne – seven springs – is the source of the River Simme and gives the valley its name. Here the water gushes out of a mighty limestone wall in seven places to form a majestic waterfall. Sibe Brünne is a designated ‘Kraftort’ – a place with special energy – and a wonderful place to linger.
The Sibe Brünne waterfall is at the very end of the valley, five kilometres beyond the village of Lenk.

Magic Lake Oeschinensee
Lake Oeschinen is a Unesco World Heritage Site and considered by many to be the most beautiful mountain lake in the Alps. It lies above Kandersteg and is an intact mountain lake fed by the glacial streams of the three-thousand-metre peaks Blüemlisalp, Oeschinenhorn, Fründenhorn and Doldenhorn. Cosy mountain restaurants and secluded spots invite you to linger. If the water is too cold for swimming, hire a rowing boat and explore the lake on a boat trip. Or continue your hike on one of the numerous routes.
