Although this Frutigen trail may be relatively short, with the River Engstlige, the Gand floodplain conservation area and the beautiful landscape of Reinisch, there is still lots to see.
There is where the mountain stream does what it wants and there is space for alpine fauna and flora. Just above Frutigen, a large floodplain conservation area begins at Gand. If you choose this particular Silva trail, you will quickly be rewarded by unspoilt nature on the banks of the River Engstlige. Crossings and bridges take you close to the wild side of the water, but it's not all about looking down. From Bodmen, on the return trail, runners are treated to views of the imposing Niesen mountain chain and the picturesque landscape of Reinisch.
