A rewarding ski tour to the Hockenhorn with an enjoyable descent into the Gasterental Valley.
Stage 1: The tour starts at the mountain station "Gandegg" at the Lauchernalp ski resort and heads towards the glacier "Milibachgletscher" and onwards up to the Hockenhorn. As an option you can also take the Gletscherbahn gondola directly to the Hockenhorngrat. From here you will enjoy a fantastic view over the surrounding Valais and Bernese mountain panorama before setting out for the Lötschenpass Hut. Refuel at the Lötschenpass Hut for the next stage of this tour.
Stage 2: In the second stage of this tour, descend from the Lötschenpass Hut via the Lötschen Glacier and the Gfellalp into the Gasterental Valley. The descent across the Lötschen Glacier is classified as being "quite difficult" (ZS) and should only be attempted in very safe conditions.
